In a lot of ways Rudy Giulani would represent the perfect Republican Candidate for President. Because when he says he’s against Big Government, you should believe him because he really is. He is the perfect republican for the Northeast. Where you have several big States, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts. All these States would be in play for republicans if they nominated Mayor Giulani for President. As well as Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, except for Iowa all big States. Why because he’s in lock step with the GOP on Fiscal and Foreign Policy. He’s believes in strong defense and strong Law Enforcement. A two term Mayor of the biggest City as well as biggest Democratic City in America. I shouldn’t have to tell you what City that is. He comes from the Eisenhower, Goldwater, Reagan Faction of the party. Except for Adult Entertainment, where he closed down some bars and Strip Clubs in New York as Mayor. He’s truly anti Big Government.
So why did Mayor Giulani bomb out in 2008 when he ran for President the first time. The Limited Government Conservative Libertarian Faction of the GOP doesn’t run the party anymore. Today its dominated by the Christian Right mostly and the Neo Conservatives to a certain extent. The Big Government Conservative Faction of the party. People who I call authoritarians who believe in limited Social Freedom. And that Constitutional Rights can be suspended in the name of National Security. Which is why Mayor Giulani didn’t play in Iowa and South Carolina in 2008. Because the Christian Right owns the GOP in those States. And why candidates like Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum. Who would’ve been considered fringe Far Right candidates thirty years go. Are today considered Mainstream Candidates in the GOP. Because they both come from that faction of the party.
The more that Christian Right runs the GOP, the more they pay a price for it and look like a Far Right Third Party. Because the more quality candidates that the GOP will lose. Because even though they are in lock step with the GOP on Fiscal and Foreign Policy. These candidates can’t go anywhere nationally, because they are Pro Choice on things like abortion and homosexuality. And the GOP is left to choose from the rest instead of the best. The people who will do anything to win the nomination and run farthest to the right as possible. Even if it costs them the General Election.
