Rick Santorum Defends Support for Restoring Felons’ Voting Rights: One way to Transition Convicted Felons back in Society

Santorum defends support for restoring felons’ voting rights – Washington Times.

South Florida Blizzards are more common then when I agree with former US Sen. and Rep. Rick Santorum. Now a GOP Presidential Candidate and the Christian Right’s. Choice to be the Republican Nominee for President. I tend to agree with Sen. Santourm on Poverty Issues and now. On Restoring Voting Rights for Convicted Felons. If the idea is for Convicted Felons who’ve paid their Debt to Society. And have rehabilitated themselves while in Prison. Got a real education, to go along with helping them survive while. In Prison, something all Prison Inmates have to learn. But a Formal Education, like graduating High School. Earning a Higher Educational Degree. Held a good paying job, had a solid Prison Record. To prepare themselves to be successful on the outside legally. So they don’t have to come back to Prison. Then we should help the Prison Inmates that want to be helped. Transition back to Society, so they don’t commit any more crimes. Taking more from Society.

I’m not saying we should Restore Voting Rights to all Convicted Felons. Just the ones who worked and earned them. By keeping themselves clean, staying out of Jail and Prison. Holding a Legal Job, perhaps doing and completing Community Service. And lets say after ten years of this, they would have the opportunity to restore their full American Citizenship. Which includes Voting Rights, we want them to be clean and be Productive Citizens. And give up their Criminal Careers. Which is clearly a Drain on Society, then we need to send them a message. That they are welcome back to Society. That we want them to become Productive Citizens. And not going back to being criminals.

To this idea that we would automatically take away parts of Convicted Felons. American Citizenship away from them, because they committed lets say just one felony. Lets say they went to Prison for Possessing or Smoking Pot. Now of course we have a lot of Dangerous Criminals as well. But the idea that we would strip peoples full American Citizenship. Because they are Convicted Felons, after they’ve paid their Debt to Society. To me is Cruel and Unusual Punishment. They’ve done their time and lets do we can to welcome then back to Society.
